There are many organic cleaning products available online and even in some conventional stores. But today we are going to talk about some products which are available at home and can be used for cleaning purposes. All we have to buy organic products and use them in place of chemical lead products. We can make some homemade cleaning products by ourself with the ingredients available at home.

Some things available at home are useful in cleaning are:

1.      Vinegar

Organic vinegar is easily available at stores and many household have them at home.  It’s a versatile cleaner and a wonderful disinfectant. Vinegar is a wonderful glass and window cleaner. It is most effective in cleaning moulds, bacteria as it is acidic. Apple cider vinegar (ACV) is a most preferred type of vinegar it may have same properties as white vinegar but smells good.

Make a solution of equal parts of water and vinegar and store in a spray bottle. It can replace any of your toxic glass cleaners at home. It gives shine to glass surfaces like window panels, mirror and tv screens.

Application of vinegar containing products should be avoided for marble and granite structures as the vinegar is acidic.

2.      Baking soda

Baking soda is a non-toxic deodorizer that mixed with water can clean up dirt and grease easily. Baking soda is best for cleaning stains in sink. We just need to sprinkle some baking soda in the sink and rub it with any scrubber sponge.

For cleaning dust and grease we can prepare a solution of 4tbsp baking soda and 1qt of warm water. For more tough stains we can use white vinegar with baking soda. The mixture of white vinegar and baking soda should be used right away because it releases gas when stored and can get exploded.

3.      Lemon

Lemon has antibacterial properties which cleanse bacteria and germs and leaves a fresh scent.

For all purpose cleaning we can prepare a solution of 1 cup white vinegar, 1 cup distilled water, juice from half a lemon and 2 to 15 drops of essential oil.  This solution can be used for multipurpose cleaning (except in granite and marble). The solution must be stored in refrigerator due to the lemon juice.

4.      Rubbing alcohol

Rubbing alcohol has antiseptic properties and so is essential in cleaning germs.

Prepare a solution of 70% isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol) 1/4th cup, 2 cup distilled water, half cup white vinegar or ACV mixed with some drops of essential oil. This solution is very effective in cleaning glass.

5.      Soap nuts

Soap nuts are berries also known as reetha. Soap nuts are best replacements for soap and detergent. They are natural and chemical free. It can be used as dish soap, laundry, body wash and shampoo.

For preparing a soap nut solution we need 3 soap nuts per cup of water. Boil the berries in water and smash the berries once it is boiled using smasher. Once it is cooled down store it in a container.Buy it here

6.      Salt

Besides using in food, salt can be used as a natural cleaner for getting rid of stains in steel utensils. Just take a little amount of salt and rub it with a slice of lemon. It is effective in getting rid of rust stains.
